The Mission of the Steno Institute for Faith and Science is to promote an authentically Catholic perspective on the origins of life on earth, and especially of the human race that integrates the sure findings of the natural and biological sciences with the clear and authoritative teachings of Holy Scripture and Sacred Tradition.
We believe that faith and science cannot contradict each other, because they are two ways of how one God revealed himself to humanity. Therefore we approach with serious attention the latest discoveries in natural science without belittling traditional interpretations in theology.
Drawing on contemporary developments in Intelligent Design theory in science and philosophy, and forms of the Progressive Creation model in theology and biblical studies, our goal is to offer the Catholic Church a renewed vision of the doctrine of Creation, based on a fresh synthesis of divine revelation and human reason.
